I am not a huge fan of LA C'tis being an almost pure death nation, though I do like the concept of undead lizardfolk and play them sometime.Īs for least favorite, LA R'lyeh. I love lizardfolk in all fantasy settings, and this is the age with the greater emphasis on nature magic. I really wish there was an MA and LA Fomoria, though I guess they probably died out from their curse. I enjoy having a supercombatant chassis on recruit, and their powerful air magic can be super fun to play with. I love the freakish mutant giants and their ability to enter the sea. Plus who doesn't want to steal the sun?įomoria may be my favorite nation. I love the Mayan flavor and how unique their species are from traditional fantasy. Massive hosts of flying batmen supported by frogfolk that can go into the sea. I also enjoy the evil overlord feel by playing EA and the alien invader feel of MA. There is just something very fun about spamming mind blasters and melting the enemy army by exploding their brains. ![]() Too much red for me, they need to cool down a little. Helheim's the best !Īlso, for some reason I don't like Abysia. In fact, I don't like Vanheim, their look like brutal mindless vikings, and I don't like TNN, lost in their spell singing ♥♥♥♥♥ things. with that many tools, you usually have the initiative and your opponent tends to react rather than decide.Ĭompared to other elven nations, I really prefer them over Vanheim and TNN, for the valkyries and their wide access to Death magic (one of my most prefered magic school). Of course, the classical glamorous sneaky infiltration is part the picture. The valkyries add to this panel of tactical surprises with their very high map mobility (the best of the game in terms of recruitable troops). I'm particularly fond of cloud trapezing geared vanjarls/hangadrotts to either catch small armies unaware, or cut retreat or even better cut a 2 tiles moves by capturing the province in between before the move (i.e. Then, on a gameplay point of view, I really like how they have a lot of tactical options to surprise the ennemy. First for the lore, the masters of death and the elite Valkyries beside them. And they get to recruit a mighty giant, no weaker than a pretender God, every 2 turns. LA phlegra being the exception, who I love, as I like building SCs. LA reduces the asymmetry quite a bit with professional well equipped troops being commonplace and giants largely gone with those remaining being quite a bit less impressive than those in the EA. Some troops wear furs, others are trained legions wearing very heavy armour. But thematically I really like them, and absolutely enjoying fighting against them.Īlso generally speaking I like early age better than late age, as theres higher asymmetry. Rlyeh being the worst as it spawns normal and magic beings, further exacerbating the micro issues. The micro in troop gathering is deeply annoying. I don't like playing freespawn nations, unless on small maps. Those little buggers pack quite a punch actually, and are great distractions keeping your giants alive. Jotunheim has a special place in my heart due to the size 1 vaetti swarms. I also quite like communion in general, and they fit that bill too. A nation reanimating legions to fight alongside living armies. Those stone oracles with +5 protection bless and wearing cheap black plates makes for ridiculous protection. I play mostly SP, and I get a kick out of building super combatants vs high level AI. I find them boring to play, hate their land forts - OK maybe I have never been in a game with tons of water provinces, still I don't like recruiting their troops after a while. ![]() Also enjoy playing MA machaka (so easy and fun to role play, love the stealthy preaching spies too, fun to screw with my neighbours even if I also lose because let's face it, the nation is also pretty weak).Īs to least favourite, I'm sad to say it includes MA Rlyeh, since I love the flavour and am a lovecraft fan. ![]() I have a hard time picking favourite fun nations, although I do particularly love the flavour of MA c'tis and Agartha, and I love playing both even if I suck with Agartha and have never won with them in MP. Not interested in which nations are more powerful or the like, those are for other threads. Do you also have favorite nations whose flavour or playstyle just seems to be more fun (whatever that may mean to you and for whatever reasons) as well as the opposite? I'm interested in your totally subjective opinions.
